10/3付でオフィシャル・サイトに、『Anthology: Through The Years』の情報が掲載されました。発売は10月31日（USA、日本盤は不明)です。

34曲収録の2枚組アルバムですが、うち31曲は（MACA時代の11枚の）オリジナル・アルバム収録曲で、「Anthology」というよりは「新たなベスト盤」といった内容になっています。残る3曲は、Stevie Nicks とのデュエット”Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” （1981年、Nicks のアルバム『Bella Donna』収録）、『Full Moon Fever』セッションのアウトテイク “Waiting For Tonight” （『Playback』収録）、新録音の”Surrender” （1977年頃にライヴで演奏されていたTPの曲、未発表）です。

依然詳細はハッキリしませんが、新たにいくつかの情報が伝わってきました。さて、どうなるのでしょうか？

  • Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers have recently recorded a new version of “Surrender,” for inclusion on “Through the Years,” a two-CD anthology of the band’s material.
  • Also included will be the 1988 song “Waiting for Tonight,” previously available only on the 1995 six-CD box set, “Playback.”
  • “Almost Famous” director Cameron Crowe wrote the liner notes for the new collection.
  • The two CD anthology set is to be release Oct 31,
